Welcome! Students are encouraged to join and become involved with the American Art Therapy Association to receive benefits that can last throughout your career.  Included in this section is an overview of the resources and opportunities available to students. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is in the process of reviewing the job classification for ‘art therapist’ for an update to be including in the BLS Job Classification system within the next 18 months.   

Student Scholarships - The American Art Therapy Association offers several scholarships for students, including the Anniversary Scholarship Fund, Myra Levick Scholarship Fund, Rawley Silver Award for Excellence in Research, Cay Drachnik Minorities Fund, and the Prasad Family Scholarship for international students to assist them in attending the Association’s Annual Conference. Student members are eligible to take advantage of these support opportunities.

Art Therapy Outcomes Bibliography
Students will find the  Art Therapy Outcome and Single Subject Studies useful for purposes of research, grant writing, demonstrating support for your art therapy program and providing evidence of the effects of art therapy with various client populations. Listings are grouped primarily by client populations. Abstracts are provided for the two journals that have give copyright permissions without a fee: Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association and American Journal of Art Therapy. Abstracts written or modified by Research Committee members appear for some listings. Links to the abstracts or articles are provided for all the articles.
